SUMMARY:We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Legal Assistant, to help support Employment and Labor law matters. The ideal candidate must have strong legal research skills and the ability to prioritize multiple task with minimal direction. Experience navigating federal and state courts is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Draft correspondence, memos, letters, etc. for respective employment and labor attorneys and/or paralegals
Collects, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
Provides general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar and making travel arrangements
Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice
Monitors on-going matter activity and pending deadlines in litigation and transactional matters.
Provides substantive and stylistic editing for a range of internal and external legal documents, including proofreading.
Serves as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and the firm.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent communication and time management skills
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience a working in employment and labor law matters.
- Law firm experience preferred.
- Deep knowledge and expertise in employment and labor laws on federal, local and state level.
